Equipment upgrade: flat files 🥲 I think if you follow me, you’ve realized I’m not trying to be IG famous, but documenting a slow return to printmaking. Printmaking is for everyone and does not need to be this complicated. (A styrofoam plate, a ballpoint pen, a foam craft roller, and some tempera paint is the easiest and cheapest place to start.) But I think I’m doing this for all the people with BFAs who were given a degree but no direction on how to get to a setup similar to art school without getting an MFA and staying in academia or moving to a city big enough to join a communal membership studio. It’s doable! Just slow. It’s not cheap either, but if you’re patient, you’ll find a deal here or there. I found these flat files on Craigslist at a price I could afford and within a reasonable driving distance after looking for two years hahah. But I have them now! And it’ll make accessing paper and prints so much easier than the stack of boxes and portfolios I was using.

Made a sewn book for the first time in years last

Made a sewn book for the first time in years last week for a friend. Not so sure how I feel about rainbow thread, but it went with the speckled paper I decided to glue as cover liner on a whim. Also Yes Paste lasts forever??? I think that container is 10 years old hahah. /// Details: grey kraft cardstock lined with speckled paper, filled 40 natural colored 25% cotton pages, 5” x 8.5”.
